his vet update was as good as it can be! tldr holding his own well, good physical, vet is generally really happy with where he’s at but he’s a bit dehydrated so to give him extra water from syringe w/ his meds

i’m sorry i haven’t posted in a while
sprites ABV has been getting worse, he’s way more lethargic and lost 3 grams, won’t eat even millet :( we are calling to assess his quality of life and if there’s anything we can do

so many people are so flippant with budgies :( sprite has shown me they can be just as boisterous and personality filled as bigger parrots- they deserve so much more (i plan on making a big psa art post to spread awareness on adequate budgie care soon!!)

i’m gutted because through it all he pushed to be with me on my shoulder cuddling me the entirety of yesterday when he plummeted. i feel awful. pickle passed away a year ago (june 10) and having this all in quick succession in one month..

big man is stuck in the tank until tomorrow (ideal scenario) his weight had just kinda stayed the same tho :( seeing the vet tomorrow so we’ll have a course of action then. if they have a poor prognosis then i’m just going to spoil him rotten until it’s time to say bye

so we got him back from icu, it was a bacterial overgrowth but his ABV is killing his immune system so the time between hospital is growing shorter and shorter, if he makes it through this his next visit will be his last, i don’t want him to keep going in this cycle :(

if you draw silly animals and make pretty infographics people are more likely to look! i think parrots should Not be pets but they’re stuck bred and thrown to rescues anyway so if someone wants one they should go into it knowing how to make a happy healthy and not dead bird

i wasn’t too happy with my understanding of their c anatomy rn so i referenced a bit off of real photos :-) body and wing shape were difficult but i think i’m getting the hang of Bird Art more

he was bought from a pet store by a hoarder and then thrown outside, had to sit on a tiny (15x15) cage for 2y due to parent not knowing proper budg care, and after a year working with him he became so cuddly and sweet. survived the icu for a week… strongest bird ive ever met

i don’t know you (for you page haha) but i sufferefbthe same thing with pickle :( as much as i love(d) all of my animals she was my soul bird too, even though she’s late passed i want her buried with me whenever i die - you’re not alone in any of these sentiments !!

had my time to grieve for a month now, this stinker made me so passionate with taking care of human averse budgies and helping them learn to trust humans so i’ll eventually want to adopt and do what i did for him to others but i don’t want to put any animals at risk

i’m bedridden even more with a putrid migraine so i can’t see sprite regularly anymore for right now :/ boyfriend taking care of him well though!
in the meantime i’ve been completing the pokédex in scarlet and violet, 308/400 so far

i’m always going to most likely resent the family for this, nobody took pickle to the vet in the 4yrs i owned her and same with him…and forcefully keeping him on seeds and a tiny ass cage :/
when i’m out of here i’m giving my future birds the best/healthiest life possible

he’s so strong and i love him So much.. he really put my heart on budgies, when i have a stable job and home after uni i’m getting a bigger parrot from a rescue eventually but before then even after his passing i’m going to adopt budgies consistently -

sprite has been on a hunger strike again :( i thought he was doing so good with his pellets but now is back to sticking it out until he gets seeds.. been extra sleepy today too, hoping he’s okay :(

he hates the hair but i do too. haven’t been able to brush it for 3 months now b/c of nerve pain anytime i move. the biggest issue from it all is just my limited time with him :(

sprite is still hanging in there! we got him on oral milk thistle thru water so now it’s just, keep him going on pellets and hope things work <:)
