It’s never too late to integrate the principles and values of DE&I into your work, to enhance both your organization’s cultural competencies and those of your clients and constituents. #DEI #diversityandinclusion #leadershipdevelopment #writingdevelopment #customerservice

Impacting change is indeed a challenge, but this is an exciting moment to get involved. It is time to check your biases at the door (unconscious or otherwise). If you don’t know where to start, we are here to help. #DEI #diversityandinclusion #leadershipdevelopment

Words matter, and so does the team. Think about it: How many failed campaigns have you seen recently that were completely tone-deaf, ill-timed and simply ended up creating a serious reputational crisis for a company?

Everyone should be responsible for championing diversity and inclusion to some degree, with full executive-level support and dedicated teams, all working in conjunction with human resources and talent acquisition.

Diversity goes beyond race and ethnicity — it includes gender identity, orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical ability, religious beliefs and more. DE&I is hugely important to an organization’s internal culture too.

Research proves that DE&I is critical to the success, profitability, employee retention, client satisfaction and overall longevity of any organization, and companies everywhere are establishing best practices that go well beyond an EEO statement on a job description. #DEI

People want to belong, plain and simple. Marginalized individuals want to know that they’re not going to be the token person to represent a demographic. They shouldn’t have to worry about that in the workplace; they should be focused on how they’re going to have an impact.

Inclusion is what maintains diversity. Without it, employees will simply leave the organization. If a candidate walks into a workplace and they’re the only woman or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) employee, they’re going to question the employer’s authenticity.

Employees should not worry about code switching or shielding part of their identity. They should be able to walk through the door without feeling like something about them has to change. #DEI #diversityandinclusion #leadershipdevelopment #writingdevelopment #customerservice

Inclusion is the practice of ensuring that people feel a sense of belonging in the workplace. This means that every employee feels comfortable and supported by the organization when it comes to being their authentic selves. This is crucial. #DEI #diversityandinclusion

In order to ensure equal possible outcomes for all individuals across the organization, equity requires that employers recognize barriers and advantages. This is the crucial difference between “equity” and “equality.” #DEI #diversityandinclusion #leadershipdevelopment

Allyship should start with self-education. Before forming allyship groups, learn what type of struggles and injustices minority groups face at work. This will help you understand their needs and start constructive conversations with them.

True allyship is about creating spaces that promote equality and increase the success of marginalized groups. When we take away opportunity from others, we not only do injustice to those individuals, but also to the organizations and communities we serve.

Create a sense of belonging. Dominant voices dominate the conversation. Be intentional about inviting other voices into the conversation, especially when decisions are being made. #DEI #diversityandinclusion #leadershipdevelopment #writingdevelopment #customerservice

Stand up for marginalized groups the way you stand up for your friends. When you see people being mistreated, speak up. In the workplace, make sure there is appropriate representation and diversity in the room when decisions are being made.

Diversity and inclusion is important, but allyship is more than that. It is about ensuring justice, equality, accessibility, and a sense of belonging. #DEI #diversityandinclusion #leadershipdevelopment #writingdevelopment #customerservice #multiculturaldevelopment #bias #equity
