to be perceived by others as the person he himself wants to be; i don't think he's particularly "performative" in the sense that it's as much for others as it is to convince himself of what he is and whom he can be. .

i think he's the kind to talk himself into understanding his own reasoning and that's what makes him preachy and yappy overall, and i think he has a very conflicted nature and outlook on things in general, and he's definitely concerned w who he is as a person and trying+.

i think he overthinks what good or bad is a lot, but i think he understands the nuance of morality and is just trying to find his way; he will do mental gymnastics to convince himself he's good but will also accept that some times he aint that great--or not care;+.

other ppl are misconstrued abt him but i tend to find his depiction to fall on either the "very good, very sweet, very right" extreme, or the "actually he does it bc he wants ppl to think he's good and he's a psycho" extreme and ig it's neither for me?+.

and then it's just been a matter of letting it come as it did. My own work has been a big influence too, and I've seen my art style evolve as I had to adapt to the shows I've worked on (especially going from very cartoony stuff to realistic works).

-started depicting him that way myself. The face was rly inspired by one of my childhood friends who was very very cartman coded on MANY WAYS (down to only living w her mom and having a lil grey cat). The rest is just going w the flow and trying things out!.
