MSU was honored with the Golden Goose Award this week for the discovery of cisplatin—a life-saving cancer treatment developed through federally funded research. MSU leaders met with MI's congressional delegation to discuss how public investment in science leads to breakthroughs.
In 1965, a group of MSU researchers discovered a new cancer-fighting drug: cisplatin. Since then, cisplatin has saved millions of lives and remains one of the most effective chemotherapy treatments. This week, MSU will receive a national award for the global impact of cisplatin.
