@GirlScout27 The ‘husband stitch’ is well known and it’s not the last stitch required, it’s an extra stitch to unnaturally tighten the vagina. A heinous practice which used to be commonplace, and is now mostly discontinued I believe.

Little example of patriarchy for you. At the GP recently: GP: how is your HRT? I see you have started testosterone Me: Yes it’s great. I’m far less depressed and suicidal, and my urinary incontinence is pretty much gone GP: interesting. We’re only actually allowed to …

@mskatestafford Like when you need stiches after birth, they joke that the last stitch is 'one for the husband'. My sis in law had a total hyst quite young, they put her on granny levels of E, when she complained of no libido, her NHS gynae said, 'get your husband to take you out to dinner'.

@mskatestafford Yes sorry that's what I meant, grim! Honestly, some things friends have told me make my blood boil. My disabled friend has CP, she gets muscle spasms esp when nervous. She needed an internal. Male doctor said 'are you this uptight when having sex with your boyfriend?' WTAF!

@mskatestafford @GirlScout27 There was a book I was given by a well-meaning friend when I was trying for my first child called “The Fat Ladies Club”. I was horrified to discover that one of the women recounting her own pregnancy experience, was a PC whose colleagues joked about “put an extra stitch in for..”

@mskatestafford @GirlScout27 I had one. It was very uncomfortable afterwards. It gave way after a year or so. Thank god. Anyone putting in an extra stitch minors bugger all about women’s bodies and sex.

@mskatestafford @GirlScout27 I gave birth aged 16 in 1969 at the local hospital. Needed stitches, but put in so tight caused pain and infection. That will teach me!!

@mskatestafford @GirlScout27 As a med student, I told a registrar off for saying that. Looking back, I can't believe I had the nerve, but it's a proud moment.
