Upset for my friend’s mom. Masks were made to help keep her safe from COVID-19. But it appears they were stolen once the package was in the hands of the USPS. Would love to see how @USPS responds to this!

So excited to get a package from my sister in AZ. She had a friend make masks for our mom. Well... we will never use US Postal service again. Yup- they stole them right out of the package ,but had the nerve to deliver the empty envelope. Thanks US Post Office. @USPS @USPSHelp

I just finished another Pear Deck presentation. I’m getting better at using the features & I LOVE how interactive this is for my Ss. Tomorrow, we’re gonna have some fun in 7th grade! While I was working, my dog wanted to play. I’m posting his picture simply because he’s adorable.

Today in Science 8, we assigned a Periodic Table project. Ss picked a slip of paper with an element on it. Some were upset that they didn’t get their favorite element. I find it so cool that 8th graders have a favorite element! Do you? These days I’m pretty partial to Mg and K!

Today, I created a Pear Deck activity. 1st time I’ve used it & I figured it out by myself lol. Might sound like no big deal, but I’m pretty proud. Sometimes I’m tech challenged, but I’m READY to try new things to engage my Ss. Ready is our word of the month. Walking the walk.

Today was Fun Friday in Advisory. While we reviewed our Ready to Learn activity from earlier in the week, I gave all of my Ss a container of Play-Doh. I’ve never seen a happier bunch! They were so excited. No screen. No video. No charging cord needed. Just pure, simple, fun! 👍🏻

Today in Advisory, we discussed this quote. Had great participation. We also discussed how striving for excellence does not equate w/ perfection. When we always do our best, we’ve made that a habit & that is something to always be proud of. 👍🏻😎 #myadvisoryisawesome

Just got home from my VERY LAST BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT EVER AS A PARENT!!!! I’m so proud of where Sam is and what he’s doing and the goals he has for himself. He’s ready for what lies ahead, and I will continue to support him as he pursues what he’s passionate about. ❤️

Some days you feel inspired by the connection your Ss make to the content. On others, you have to reteach that climbing on a table while holding your laptop on 1 hand like a waiter’s tray isn’t ok and 8 handfuls of suds from the hand sanitizer dispenser makes a big mess.

Today, during a lab practical, one of my Ss had a question. I was a few steps away helping another student. He looked at me & said, “Hey, Mom?” Lol. I said, “Yes?” He giggled. I said that Mom is a name I respond to, as I have 2 sons. He gave me a big grin and said now it’s 3!

Nothing puts wind back in your sails quite like a parent coming to BTSN and telling you that you’re the reason their child loves Science this year. She thanked me from the bottom of her ❤️. I’m so grateful for her kind words. I adore my Ss & I’m so glad to have a positive impact.

Reminding myself to keep planting seeds, even for the students who dig them up everyday and throw them back at me lol. Perseverance, optimism, and large amounts of caffeine will get us where we want to be. 😉

You know you haven’t fully transitioned out of teacher mode and into home mode when your dog can’t reach his toy under his raised bed, so he gives a loud and emphatic woof, and you tell him that he did a good job advocating for himself. Lol.

My co-teacher rocks! Literally and figuratively. Today, I got to see her dance her way through the classroom as we both sang along with our students to Mass vs Weight. @shmsdewees you make Science 8 so much fun to be a part of! Thanks for a great day!

Went to BTSN at the Academies of Loudoun. What an amazing place. So glad that Sam has an opportunity to pursue that which he is passionate about. He has a vision for what he wants to achieve and he is living his best life. Could not be more proud.

Writing notes about the characteristics of living things. One is that living things use energy. So this guy decided to remind me of all his energy by wanting to play w/at least 4 toys at once. Indulging him was the best brain break ever. He’s now content and I’m typing some more.

Got a work related email today that I found to be so remarkable. It made me feel like a valued team member who matters. It’s the little things, and boy does my new team understand that. I’m thankful and grateful. Such a nice feeling to carry me into a brand new week.

Great night! Talked w/parents at Meet the Case Manager night. We continue to build key relationships so that we can work as a team for the success of our Ss. And, bonus! There was extra pizza & I got to take one home. Thank you Admin team for making this a fabulous evening.

Today,a struggling student tried to be a jokester in his group. Got them back on track, then had the chance to tell him I believe in him,I know he can do the work, & I hope he believes in himself as much as I do. Game changer. He did the work. Always remind them-they are capable!
