We did a reader’s theatre based on A Christmas Carol this week. Today we spent the last day of 2024 watching A Muppet Christmas Carol with scripts on our desk. Students compared their parts to those in the movie. They were really engaged. It was fun!

The Bible is the recipe for success in life. Read it often. Do what it says. Hang out with people who read it often and do what it says. If you do these things, your life will be hard but in the most meaningful way possible.

Young men, God has given you the prescription for life. Read the Bible often and align your decisions to God’s commandments. Then you will have peace.

Maybe next year I’ll do 45 minute parent-teacher conferences. I do 30 minutes now, but the conversation is so valuable and feedback from parents is wonderful. I get to know them and their child better and we can brainstorm resources and strategies. It makes me a better teacher.

Almost every great lesson learned by a man took place under a car, in a backyard, on the trail, in a river, on a mountaintop, in the desert, in pain, under stress, in church and with other men…not in a classroom.

If you want to bless boys in the classroom please talk to a Godly man and ask his advice. Men understand boys. Men will tell you to give them time to play, build, wrestle and bond. We learn by doing not by sitting and listening.

I really enjoy parent-teacher conferences. Today’s went over an hour and 15 minutes. It’s important to give parents time to talk and, if you listen carefully, you learn what a child is really going through. It helps you to tailor your approach to their needs.

Parent-conference time is beginning and if I listen very carefully, and pray a lot, I can see where I need to improve and, more importantly, I’ll put in the time needed to make it a reality. My students deserve the best education I can give them.
