The statue was erected 42 years after the end of the Civil War. The only purpose of the statue was to serve as a symbol of Black suppression by Jim Crow supporting politicians. Use what little is left of your brain to do some critical thinking.
This was the Jefferson Davis statue in Richmond before a BLM mob tore it down in June 10, 2020. It stood for 113 years. Now, it is an object of derision and desecration in Richmond's Valentine museum.
