And there is still another mindset, rooted in the prefrontal cortex—one that integrates the others and points beyond survival, compulsion, and even social bonding. Yogic traditions spoke of it long before neuroscience caught up.

The brain also gives us balancing circuits—one cognitive, and another emotional:. - The mesocortical dopamine pathway (VTA → prefrontal cortex) fuels the Negotiator mindset: planning, patience, long-term perspective. - And the Giver mindset, rooted in oxytocin, fosters trust,.

Modern culture exploits this pathway. Social media, advertising, and endless novelty are designed to hijack dopamine. They keep us scrolling, buying, consuming. We think we choose, but often our mesolimbic system is being gamed. Left unchecked, the Defender becomes a craving.

But dopamine is a double-edged sword. Repeated indulgence blunts its effect. The same thrill gives less pleasure, leading to compulsive disorders. A 2016 study on rock climbers found many felt anhedonia(joylessness) in daily life when unable to climb. Ordinary moments no longer.

The mesolimbic dopamine pathway (VTA → nucleus accumbens) fuels the Defender mindset: avoiding pain, seeking comfort, repeating what kept us safe. Dopamine here drives pursuit, spiking when we act, then stops when the task is done. Without it, no food, water, or shelter.

Sadhguru is on point. If we don’t nurture our higher brain, our older survival circuits take over. Latest neuroscience agrees. I explore this in my book. The brain’s reward systems give rise to distinct mindsets that shape how we live 🧵. @miraclemindapp.

3. Accept everything unconditionally up until now. 4. Build trust—in yourself, in others, and in the Infinite. Without trust on these three fronts, the wound stays open. Healing is incomplete.

1. Understand your past clearly. What exactly was not normal? Naming it is the first step to letting it go.

💙 The Giver. You stay late to help a colleague, despite exhaustion. Warm, creative, generous—but sometimes at your own expense. 🪷 The Yogi.In quiet moments, you sense more. Releasing control brings clarity. Wise, free—but risk drifting from life if you detach too soon or often.

🤝 The Negotiator Mindset. At work, when the team falters, you step in, balancing emotions and resolving conflict. Your Negotiator mindset is logical, analytical, and goal-oriented. Yet, this strategic thinking can become a burden—overuse leads to emotional detachment and.

⚔️ The Defender Mindset. You enter a meeting. A new idea is proposed. Instantly, you scan for risks: “What if this fails?”.The defender mindset protects, plans, and stays vigilant. It thrives under stress. Its challenge? Fear can trap it in guarding the castle instead of building.
