This American Life has launched a subscription to make up for a huge fall in ad revenue. If you’re dithering, let me say they are GREAT to work with. Pay well and on time. Kind and supportive. As well as producing great shows. Your money will be well spent

We launched our Life Partners program to help fund the show in a world with less ad revenue. One year in: it's working! But we need it to grow to sustain our work long-term. Your support allows us to...

So far, #GodsBehavingBadly is pretty good. @mpphillips knows how to build a world & show (presage, really) character development from page 1: skillful economy of wordcraft. Somehow it feels like a slow start but you look down & realize you accidentally got on a supersonic train.
I was “bad” this afternoon & bought some books to try to offset my Twitter poisoning. Where should I start? 1) Naomi Klein @NaomiAKlein 2) Marie Phillips @mpphillips 3) John Scalzi @scalzi 4) Jeff Vandermeer @jeffvandermeer Secret option: Stephen King @StephenKing On Writing

Just finished The Wedding People by Alison Espach (out Aug 1). A fantastic modern romance, smart, funny and humane, with beautifully-rendered characters driving the simple but satisfying plot. An intelligent, uplifting, wholly enjoyable read. Thanks for the proof @francescamain

Oddly precise question, for a thing: have you, or anyone you know, ever had a break up or other life crisis after reading the book South of the Border, West of the Sun by Haruki Murakami? Please share widely!

My partner @mpphillips wrote this wonderful piece for @ThisAmerLife about moving in with me and coming to terms with the memory (and belongings) of Colette. Give it a listen.
My favourite thing in this week's show is an essay @mpphillips wrote for us (produced by Bim Adewunmi). It's such a wonderful piece about the memory and essence of a person. Give it a listen. https://t.co/0KiYepJAx9

Who me? Oh just casually hanging out on this street corner in case anyone I know has a downloaded rip of the 2002 documentary MC5: A True Testimonial. DMs open. FAQ 1. Yes, many times. 2. Yes, but my copy is on a dead computer.

Hildy was neutered today so @mpphillips is aiding the post-op recovery by letting her watch David Attenborough's Birds Of Paradise documentary.

I’m seeing people gripe about the lack of activity on BluSky. I’d say it’s like Retro Twitter c. 2009. It’s also calmer and kinder with less porn and less Nazis. Also, it’s where I give regular updates on what Nico smells of.

I’m trying very hard not to post here, but this cannot remain unretweeted
My fave Cilla Black story is the one where she lives underground in the ruined tin mines of Dartmoor, sewn into the rotting corpse of a white horse, and every November 26th she rises from the sodden earth to suck the eyes from unfaithful men in Exeter Sports Bars and Brasseries.

I've got two shows at the Amsterdam International Storytelling Festival this weekend: Lalaei, an adaptation of Ovid featuring music from Belgian guitar group Zwerm and Iranian singer Sarah Akbari; and my full-length solo debut, Il Faut Danser, the story of my Algerian grandmother
