The celebration of an 80th anniversary is often marked with gifts of oak, symbolizing enduring commitment. This is fitting as we remember the incredible life of my father, Dr. Pearse Lyons, who would have turned 80 today.

The barrels we use in Kentucky will go on to add flavor (and alcohol!) to our beers and even make their way to the @PLDistillery in Ireland.

As my friend Dave Bob Gaspar(@Davesoftheweek1), our national brand manager, says, each barrel is like a snowflake. While these particular bottles are limited, you can find our whiskey all over the world.

Today, we hold the oldest stocks of single-malt Kentucky whiskey and produce numerous award-winning spirits and beers. The barrels we selected this week were truly special — and unique.

Bourbon whiskey gets its name from Bourbon County, Kentucky, one of the state’s first five counties. Early settlers, many of them veterans of the war, cleared land, grew crops, and built homes in Bourbon County, where several mills on creeks and rivers processed lumber and grain.
