My New Year's resolution is to tweet more...and I'm starting off strong on Jan. 4th 🙃
Happy New Year! Onwards and upwards - 2024 is going to be great⚡️
2/ Each postcard is created stamp by stamp, person by person, as it moves from one destination to the next. As each stamp is confirmed on the blockchain, it becomes a token of ownership, resulting in a 15 stamp postcard that is simultaneously co-created and co-owned.
3/ The more people who contribute to a postcard, the more aesthetically rich it becomes. Meaning and value is defined progressively by those who participate in a given postcard. It is as much a reflection of the individual as it is of the whole.
Really a pleasure to discuss MoMA Postcard in-depth with

“Software is so expressive that it’s better thought of not as engineering but as an art form (…) As with other art forms, practitioners regularly develop new genres and movements that fundamentally shift what’s possible.”
@cdixon

“All digital work is experienced in the physical world. Even if the work is purely digital, the viewer’s environment, mood, posture, etc. all play a part in how the work is experienced (…) no artwork is purely digital.”

1/5 Senses are a deeply personal thing. They inform how we perceive, interact with and interpret the world around us...moment to moment. The visual realm is perhaps increasingly dominant as we edge closer to a hybrid state across physical and virtual worlds. Between the sunshine…

Can we not just work to provider greater context and accessible resources so that people come to better understand what NFT means from a tech, community and art perspective?
2/5 Sound, on the other hand, holds a softer space. It is ephemeral and sometimes subliminal. It can be a scream or a whisper. And unlike the others, sound is the only sense that never shuts off - it requires sitting with.
"With works crossing optical and aural domains, the artists bring to the fore MoMA’s deep history with sound and the sonic. They redefine sound once more with technologies ranging from generative AI to blockchains. They come in like music, and go where we haven’t gone before."
3/5 SOUND MACHINES offers space to reflect on the sonic experience, each work engaging with our relationship to sound in different ways. As
@VirtuaTransMyst
states, “Listen hard. Don’t let the sound wash over you.”
