This was especially sad to write. Knew him for nearly 40 years, and loved his music for 60. An honor to write about him often, and even produce a "Mission: Impossible" box set a few years ago. Farewell, maestro.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but it’s the sound of a plugin that matters more than how it looks. So many over-designed plugins with animations, knobs, sliders, eye candy. But the dark truth is that developers know this is what ‘sells’. Don’t fall for it. Use your ear.

Thanks to the great @JasonHayesMusic for bringing me in on this one. Exciting GorillaTag announcement at VidCon yesterday in Anaheim. My kids love this game, and they still think I’m cool that I get to work on it.

Music theory isn’t that complicated. You can learn it all pretty quickly. Your music will improve drastically. Relying on choices based on what sounds good is fine, but you will be limited. Music theory gives you an arsenal to pull from whenever you need it.
