To tell if you have a strong plot, ask: 1. Is the conflict clear? 2. Are the stakes high enough? 3. Does the protagonist face obstacles? 4. Is your plot focused? 5. Do the scenes build on one another? If you answer "no" to any of the above, work on that to strengthen your story.

How come someone doesn't figure out a better way? I don't know what it might be, but here's why I think it matters: No author I know, published by trad or not, is enthusiastic about the process. And so many of us are much worse turned off by it. I just really wish... (4/?)

I know we're all busy. But why outline how an author should reach you, why dictate the rules by which they should reach you, just to prove unreachable and unresponsive? I know reading through slush piles isn't paid work for an agent or an agency. But... (3/?)
