The thing about Wuthering Heights is that it has one of the most beautiful paragraphs in all of English literature—and I don’t think any film adaptation, even a good one, can ever capture what I felt reading this for the first time:

The 1996 Romeo + Juliet was modernized, but the themes were exactly the same. The story was the same. The dialogue was line-for-line FROM the play. There is a huge difference between artistic vision that still respects the source material and doing whatever the fuck for vibes.
