Too often we automatically fund questionable road projects in our budget, & then throw badly-needed public transit under the bus by tying its funding to controversial new “taxes.” A smart budget would do the opposite — fund transit 1st, then have people vote on new road funding.

This is how streets could be desigbed all over our historic cities if we stopped using them as through route to somewhere else.
Today I stumbled across Olivette Street, Putney. Its a delight to see spaces reclaimed for people from vehicles.
It reminds me of Van Gogh Walk and is a shame these streets aren't commonplace

So how many more of these results do we think need to happen and get recorded before decision makers in other cities come to believe that their city is not an exception to this rule and that parking in front of shops and lines of traffic will not save their city?
The 2018 decision to limit vehicle access to Madrid’s city centre led to a 9.5% increase in retail sales on the city’s main shopping street, the Gran Vía. City-wide the spending increase was 3.3%.
And that wasn’t even the reason it was done. (pollution)

I hate to say it but case building for italian style shut down of Dublin from the rest of the country to help containment until they show they can take social distancing seriously. Just watched Rte news. Do people not realise how serious this is? They cannot be that selfish!!

Monaghan now has a case, so there is a case in every county.
