Ya Allah the pictures make me miss Madinah dearly. I’ll spend part of the next Ramadan there In Sha’ Allah. Feels depressing to be away.

A basic identifier of the lowest levels of third-worldism is car-reliance—absurd degrees of it—with no efforts in improving walkability, urban spaces, and public transportations on and below ground. American road-planning is genius, but it also is the epitome of this category.

Every infrastructural decision in Cairo is depressing beyond measure. In none of these countries is it ever an issue with money but rather severe, severe levels of incompetence and a lack of respect for human life.
🇪🇬 Cairo: The government builds a bridge straight in people’s faces. Floors 1–4: Never see daylight Floors 5–6: Look drivers in the eye and smell their cars Floors 7+: Loud hell

Finished this. A very, very cozy read—perfect if you want something relaxing during the winter to sit back and enjoy next to the fireplace—but it stays a bit «too» loyal to the title, so I’ll have to see if there was a point of reading this.
Today’s reading has been on a history of reading because I’ve been thinking about approaches to reading so I can write an article on reading.

“You’ve bought books and filled shelves, O Lover of the Muses. Does that mean you’re a scholar now? If you buy string instruments, plectrum and lyre today: Do you think that by tomorrow the realm of music will be yours?”

Im a business owner and I could easily cash in by attending this event and ignoring all the wrongdoing that happens. But even ignoring all of that, the event at its core is antithetical to the spirit of Ramadan. I will say this every year it continues to happen. Ethical

Can read Beowulf effortlessly but what on earth is this supposed to mean.
This ramadan we're samosamaxxing at iftar until we carbcrash before barakafarming at Tarawih to avoid becoming sub-5 jahannamcels, but getting burpmogged by the jestergooning uncles causing a 9.0 richter scale cortisolspike

No controversial posts during Ramadan so I’ll only be posting excerpts from Shams al-Ma’arif.

Also, was interesting finding out that Manguel, prominent as he is, used to read to Borges and sat in his company as the latter read to him works of Keats, Kipling, and others.
