This field caught my attention yesterday during my Polk/Boone/Story Co corn disease tour as a clear bacterial leaf streak susceptible variety. I wrote a short article on differentiating it from gray leaf spot! #ISUCrops. 🔗

An alert went out earlier this week on the Midwest Pest Alert Network that soybean gall midge has been confirmed in Tama and Poweshiek Counties. Keep an eye out for wilty or dying soybean along field edges!. You can sign up for the pest alert network:

➡️It takes about 2-3 weeks after infection for you to see tar spot on the corn plant. ➡️While current weather conditions are low risk for tar spot, hot, humid, and wet is about as good as it gets for gray leaf spot. ➡️Scout fields before you make mgmt decisions!.
I've had a few people ask about the Tarspotter app. @CropNetwork is now using the Crop Disease Forecasting Tool online: The current weather pattern is low risk for tar spot, but I expect we'll see more show up in corn due to good conditions in June.
