While I still like the name nanobanana, it is good that we finally know that the new image model making waves on social media is actually Gemini 2.5 Flash Image and not a small banana. I want a banana sundae now https://t.co/Weyjjq5li2

Sourcing request: Writing a story about the rise of asynchronous coding agents, and looking for users. Do you like Jules or Codex? Have these helped close more tickets? Or does it feel like they're still trying to find their footing? Let's chat at miya.david@venturebeat.com

I'm working on a family website project and asked Claude to write the code and show me a preview. Does anyone else with little to no coding experience use Claude Artifacts to build a site? I'm considering writing about the experience.

Today in I can't understand my own notes: Wrote down KaaS but read it as KaoS and I spent a stupid amount of time trying to think why an interview about AI orchestration involved the Netflix show Kaos

Let me be clear: Not wanting to be phone pitched doesn’t mean I won’t talk on the phone ever. I still prefer phone or video or in-person interviews. I will still meet you for coffee so you can tell me all about your clients and I will tell you about beat focus.

Note to PRs: Please don't call to pitch me a story. I am busy, and answering a phone call is time away from writing or actually talking to a source. I'd rather take the time to answer a call for an interview than be pitched a story that is still better explained via email

I spent the entire weekend avoiding this site because I am still upset that FIG and IOC just won't give all three gymnasts a medal (like both USAG and the Romanian Fed agreed). Can I come out of my hidey hole now or is still bad? Not like Reddit is making me feel less mad

I still write about AI when I am not a crazy gymnastics fan. Character AI's founders will move to Google in a new deal that brings in additional investments to Character from the tech giant
More details on Google's scooping up the two co-founders of Character AI. Character AI has been working on "Prompt Poet," a key way to make conversational agents more intelligent, so this is very relevant for Google's Gemini ambitions. From @miyadavid:

The way I am irrationally angry that the judges initially devalued a tour jete that Jordan Chiles does great literally every floor routine, even in college, is better fuel than coffee this Monday morning

I remember listening to @GymCastic gushing about Caloy Yulo so long ago and being mad that Philippine media continued to ignore him because he wasn’t a basketball player. Buti na lang nagising sila

As a former four year fan of gymnastics (converted in 2015 thanks to UCLA), I really hope the amazing gymnasts this year makes more year long gymnastics fans. Worlds are just as fun! College meets are awesome! Join us in the dark side. We have scoring drama AND cookies

Anyway, I also miss so much NCAA gym because when UCLA was still PAC-12, the channel wasn't available on the East Coast, and ESPN rarely showed women's gymnastics

@OpenAI's latest alignment research has AI models ranking their own safety. Fascinating approach says @miyadavid but can self-assessment really lead to safer AI?
venturebeat.com
Rules-based Rewards, a method from OpenAI that automates safety scoring, lets developers create clear-cut safety instructions for AI model fine-tuning.

For some reason, it's taken 16 years of going with Emilia David as my byline before people get confused about whether to call me Emilia or Miya. For the record, I don't care which name you call me, as long as you pronounce and spell either correctly.
