I hope some day I can explore it a bit - in the meantime I'm spam listening the recent HEALTH singles. One of the most flexible bands out there & I love how they pull artists from NIN to Shapenoise to work with them. Love the MVs as well, just really cool to me rn. (End)

It's led me to wonder how to even do synthetic metal at all just because I want to explore the combination a bit. I think it could work well with industrial neuro of old (Broken Note, Steelan, Rawtekk, Audeka, etc.) and want to see it done even though I have no clue how to (3/4)

That doesn't really sound very good. Not naming names obviously but the dubstep metal pairings works rarely (Wontolla has been my favorite example of it being done well for a while), but Sylvir, Varien, Poseidon, and some others are the few who execute on it well (2/4)

Been listening to a lot of metal lately (HEALTH mainly but also Igorrr and a lot of older stuff). It is such a shame that the metal + electronic combo is so poorly executed on average. Not always, but I think a lot of the metal pairings with dubstep lead to noisewally stuff (1/4)

I know the trend is to post a collab list. I have one - it is quite small, 3 long, but they are all very cool collaborators and I hope to have them all out at some point next year.

Regarding the DJs and producers war, I think the best strat is to pick up both, and order doesn't matter too much. DJing is nice because it lets you understand what people like in songs, while producing helps you find odder and smaller artists for DJ sets to help them be unique.

Also I'm seeing a lot of that relative success fade away as mean reversion is harder to trade off since stocks are pretty stable again, like I'm down ~1/2% this week compared to the S&P 500

Nothing too crazy but I started investing this year around the inauguration and am up ~19% as compared to the S&P 500's 9.5%. Obviously bound to not last since you can't beat the market for long but it feels good for a portfolio just trading stocks w/ no leverage

My conclusion is that the lowest productive end is scrolling reels or twitter, with 2nd place being playing video games solo. Watching a movie or listening to music is definitely higher than those, at least in my list.

I have thought about this a lot over the past few months & I personally have productivity into different tiers: not in order but these include things like job/school work, playing games with friends, playing games solo, making music, DJing, etc.

Y'all should check out my SC page - made a cool hour-long mix for Realest Alive Radio full of a ton of tracks I love + a handful of IDs and silly doubles

I do think you definitely can use unedited samples (otherwise they would just come in like quarter notes covering the whole chromatic scale or something) but you don't want that to be like the only or main appeal of your song

Main problem with deadbeats artists & sample pack abuse is that they take the basses, which would otherwise be the most technically impressive part (not saying much btw)

Sample pack discourse again :( Uhh i think the best path is having the most complicated and impressive parts of ur songs not being splice loops I do use splice loops a lot & have built some songs around them (Need U most notably) but you have to have some other cool main thing

I have a high level of respect for April Fools posts which are telling the truth and the bit is people not trusting it
