A big welcome and thank you for joining Northern Lights Public Schools goes out to our new teachers! They took a break from a day of orientation and professional development with our learning consultants to have lunch with the Board. We hope they all have a wonderful year!

This is Halo, but you know her better as the @dog_feelings profile pic. Her iconic watermelon smile has given a voice to dogs everywhere. Halo passed away last week at the age of 9. She went peacefully and surrounded by her family. She didn’t suffer for a moment. 15/10 ❤️

Last week in 1T I was attempting to put on a BSB song while we were cleaning up. Instead I put on Bye, Bye, Bye by NSYNC and my students have adopted it as our cleanup song. They have now started requesting it for the each day and it’s super entertaining to watch them. ❤️

Teachable moment in 1T today. Bob Ross appeared in the Bill Nye video we were watching. I was trying to explain who Bob Ross is, so we spent the last 10 minutes of Science watching happy little clouds and trees being painted! They were impressed to say the least! 🤣

If you have been doing hybrid teaching, with students in classroom & online at same time, what is the one most important piece of advice you would offer to those of us who are likely to be starting this for first time in coming months?

This is a reminder to take care of your teachers/supervisors/school staff as the weather changes... Indoor recesses are coming. 🥶🥶🥶

Tomorrow the AB Government will be announcing plans for returning to school in the fall ahead of the scheduled date of August 1 🤔
The province is considering three scenarios: full reopening, a hybrid option of in-person classes and learning from home, and a third option of keeping students at home.

On behalf of educators and students across Alberta, I'd like to introduce a new initiative we are starting to get free seed kits to as many families as possible. Our first 10 schools are ready to distribute kits this week. Join us! #growalberta Logo credit - student Kayla Neumann

Thanks for the tag @danimissdee! Rugby has always been about bonding and growing as a team. I love this! #passingthelove
The Iroquois Roots Rugby Team had to cancel their first international trip because of COVID-19. Instead of getting frustrated, they're #passingthelove
