i guess my point is that you can think liking that “leftist” media is a first step to intelligent, active leftists being created but i think mostly it makes fans of influencers.

i think too much has to be lost to make it “work” for social media, as much as good does come from some of it. it will always lean into attention as the main thing that matters and i don’t think that’s good.

i bristle against a lot of the sort of “online leftism” stuff because i’m not sure i buy into “well if we get these ideas in front of people in an appealing enough way they’ll be on our side and it’s fine that it has to be squeezed through streamer/influencer culture”.

i’m of the firm belief that musicians don’t need to respect or value or “like” criticism necessarily but it just comes off embarrassing to do stuff like that. if you’re gonna be anti-criticism at least be funny and cool.

it never stops being absurd and unbelievable when a musician directly tells their fans to go leave negative comments on a review lol like death to light criticism i guess.
