Unpopular opinion: Anyone who says they listen to everything hasn't found their favorite genre yet. You can still be open to all kinds of music and have preferences.

What it means is they don't care how objectively good an artist is. If it's amazing and they're not feeling it, or if it's awful but they love it, it doesn't matter. If ANYTHING about something impacts your enjoyment, you probably don't like it and can't accept it.

You absolutely CAN separate the art from the artist and calling someone a bad person without merit for being able to do so is FAR more problematic than you still enjoying said art. That's not to say there aren't cases where you shouldn't, but it's your own choice to decide.

That's the problem with hip hop. Because it's so mainstream, people who don't have genuine love for it think it's all about being popular when there's so much more to it.
Hip-hop is the only genre where they don’t respect legends. You’ll never hear someone say Patti LaBelle or Stevie Wonder “fell off” because they haven’t had a hit recently. But in rap? Legends get disrespected daily. No respect for the foundation.
