5/ 🌕 This proposal is planned ahead of the Mesa Upgrade, and will become a permanent hard fork path for future protocol evolutions. An intermediate release will be required before the hard fork to prepare the system for full automation or follow the legacy flow.

4/💪 Benefits: - Elimination of timing-critical steps - Improved decentralization (no external ledger downloads) - Stronger security through local validation

3/ 🕒 Community & node operator feedback is requested on the difference between the two variables below: slot_tx_end: transaction stop slot slot_chain_end: chain stop slot We suggest leaving it at 100 (Same as Berkeley HF).

2/ ⚙️ Users can choose between the new automatic flow or the legacy manual update flow. The automatic flow will seamlessly stop the Berkeley process and start the Mesa process with all config and state carried over.

1/ 🚀 A step toward fully automating hard forks & protocol upgrades for Mina. With this change, nodes will pre-migrate ledgers in the background during normal operation. When the fork hits, they’ll already have everything ready to switch instantly and autonomously.
