A reminder to the protestors in
#Ottawa
.
My business lost five million dollars in gross revenue. All 23 of my full time staff had to be laid off and lost their jobs.
I sold my business at a loss as I was looking at bankruptcy.
You were asked to wear a mask to protect others.
I lost my paycheque for 17 months.
I sold my 50% ownership in the business I started at a loss.
These guys lost the privilege of going to a restaurant.
Think about that for a moment if you would.

Let’s play a little game Ottawa ❤️
When the occupation is over, which downtown/centretown small business are you going to visit and support first?
Any sector! Restaurant…retail store…
Let’s get a list of 100s of locally owned small businesses going!
#Ottawa
#SupportLocal
Despite what you may think or may have read online, Ottawa is still a wonderful place to visit and will always extend a warm welcome to tourists and visitors.
We have been festival city for as long as I can remember and can’t wait for a full spring and summer schedule.
#Ottawa
How about we make a million dollars from the
@gofundme
available to all the small businesses in the downtown core that elected or had to close due to protest.
#Ottawa
@grahamctv
Graham. Without a doubt…everyone in this city thinks you have done a PHENOMENAL job in meeting with the protestors and keeping the city abreast of the situation. We all thank you. You are one incredible man.
Ottawa, I need a favour.
I have a meeting on Monday where I am hoping to secure a way for people who have limited access to transportation be able to get to vax centre (if they choose).
I am hoping to be able to show the support I have to help the less fortunate.
Can you RT?
The beating I took on
@Facebook
for pointing out this exact issue.
The joys of living in a government town.
@brianlilley
is 100% correct. We were never in this together.
If you are living downtown (or in any part of the city) and are feeling overwhelmed by the protest today/tonight please reach out…

If you decide to protest outside of hospitals…
Think of the people leaving that just lost a loved one.
People coming in because they just heard their child was in an accident.
People who are battling cancer.
The people who work tirelessly to save lives.
#KindnessMatters
This photo is just heart breaking.
Saturday night and I am standing in the middle of Elgin Street (at Lewis Street) to take these pictures.
How are these businesses ever going to survive?
Never in a million years did anyone ever think we would see downtown Ottawa like this.
Ottawa, please RT.

Hey
#Ottawa
…
This is just a random video I came across on Tiktok but it is the video we all needed to see after three weeks of…well you know…
Please share and melt as many hearts as we can.
So sweet ❤️❤️❤️
It has been brought to my attention that some people are creating ‘boycott lists’ of restaurants in Ottawa that will be following the government mandate on vaccination certificates.
Please don’t do this.
You are better than that.

What a crazy time we are living in. A friend is out for a walk in downtown

Today has been the toughest so far.
I wish you all nothing but health and happiness and please look after each other. Everyone experiences the virus differently.

Hey

Wishing every single nurse, doctor, technician, PSW, porter, office administrator, lab technician and everyone else in between the best day ever tomorrow.
We all love and thank you. ❤️

Hi Ottawa…can you help me get the word out with an RT? ❤️

I have to share this with you.
@DavidHillWard3
, the city councillor for where I live just showed up to my door with rubber boots to help me in my basement.
That is the kindest thing that has happened to me in a long time.
Thank you so much David ❤️

It is with tremendous sadness that I am letting everyone know that my brother, Jeff Wood (45 years old) passed away today at approx 5:40 PM.
My family appreciates all the support we have been given over the last 2 1/2 years.
Enjoy every moment with your loved ones.
#Ottawa
Okay Ottawa. Is there anything more ‘Canadian’ than this.
It is the first day of 15 degree weather in months.
I just drove past a one guy wearing...
1). Shorts
2). T-Shirt
3). Sandals
4). Toque
Am I the only one confused that coffee shops are no longer letting you use your reusable cups?
@TimHortons
scrapping the roll up the rim paper cups?
I assume they still accept your cash and coins which have been touch by how many people?

On a side note, I am meeting with various Ontario government chiefs of staff tomorrow to try and expedite the re-opening of salons, barbershops and personal care locations...
Years ago, while my neighbour slept, another neighbour and I took all the Xmas trees that were being discarded and froze them into his front lawn.
He woke up to enchanted forest.
I am sad the snow was so late arriving this year or I would got him again.

I think we should all give

THANK YOU COLTON!

Dear protestors:
Over the pandemic, I met with over 50, yes FIFTY Ministers, MPs and MPPs
I didn’t influence change every time but I have emails saying where I did bring change.
How did I do it?
Kindness. Professionalism. Respect.
Try it. It works.
#Ottawa

So yesterday I had Neptune come to my house to replace the water meter as per the
@ottawacity
.
I went down to the basement to put something in my freezer to find my basement flooded. I have NO IDEA how long it has been spraying for.
All of my things are wrecked.
#Ottawa
I Just received a text from another downtown business saying they are unable to open again this weekend.
Funding needs to be made available for these community pillars who are closed once again through no fault of their own.

#OttawaOccupation
Hey!
@IKEACanada
! Does this look Covid safe to you?
I don’t see any hand sanitizing stations outside either 🤔
Asking for all of Ottawa and our small businesses who have had their patios closed, barber shops closed etc...
We ‘only’ had 240 cases today alone.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out to me. The tornado touched down close to my house but my house and myself are safe.
Other houses close to me have been badly damaged and I am going down to see if/how I can help.

In my 30 years of driving, I have never experienced a drive like I just did.
Heading south on Woodroffe to Fallowfield and then to Greenbank was a complete whiteout.
Thankfully everyone was safe and had their four ways going. You couldn’t see 3 feet in front of you.
#Ottawa
A friend that works at a major retailer that's been open throughout the pandemic called me tonight.
She was upset, scared and overwhelmed by the amount of verbal abuse she took today by people not wearing masks and she was.
This is not acceptable.
#Ottawa
#KindnessMatters
I just got a call from a friend who is at Costco in Barrhaven.
She says the cash line goes to the back of the store by the toilet paper and loops around to where the chips are.
She says there is no chicken left in the meat section.
Panicking people is not helping
#Ottawa
I have no idea how people with a mid-level income can even afford to drive anywhere.
People on fixed incomes, minimum wage workers simply can not afford these cost of living increases.
Something needs to be done to fix the cost crisis.
#Ottawa
#CostOfLivingCrisis
Barrhaven…I am safe but everyone needs to know this.
I was just walking through Burnett Park, along the sports field by Jockvale Public before the bend towards Walter Baker.
A pack of foxes became VERY aggressive with me.
Please be careful, it was wild.

If you are ever thinking...
I am just one person.
There is nothing I can do to make things better...
There is nothing I can do to influence a group of people.
Well, then, you havn’t met

Thank you Chris for inspiring the entire city.
Can we please all remember that
#KindnessMatters
?
I just had to DM
@hydroottawa
about something and it is important to remember, there is a human being on their other end.
They were so kind. I know we are all super stressed but I am sure they too.
Love one, love all.

Ladies and gentlemen. After the absolutely disgusting post by the independent official of Lanark - Frontenac - Kingston (I refuse to use his name) I urge you not to RT, share, or like anything he posts.
Comparing the struggles we are going through to Hitler is completely gross.

Hopefully you choose to do the same and we can get things back to normal in Ottawa soon ❤️

Neither

We are doing something to try and help those in

get the vaccine that want it.
With this being the first weekend of freedom from the

why not head downtown and support our local businesses.
There are so many great restaurants and shops in our city.
Please recommend your faves and where I, and others should go! ❤️

Today I personally know the most amount of people who are Covid positive than over the last two years combined.
This will be creating labour problems for small business owners who have done everything to hang on.
Put on your mask. Be kind. And we will get through this.

Due to a separation, I have to refinance my mortgage. Because I am on the CRB through no fault of my own, the bank is saying they might not underwrite it because they don’t view it as income.
The gov did, and taxed me although it is already below minimum wage.
Stay tuned Ottawa
Here is a crazy update to my dad’s stolen car story.
His insurance company had him put some trackers in it (not Apple AirTags) which he did last week.
I am blown away to say they found his car in a lot in Toronto.
What a crazy life we are all experiencing.
#Ottawa
Think about this for a second...
There are 15,450,000 people that are 15 years old and older in Canada that can work.
500,000 Canadians applied for EI which means 3.2% of Canada’s population applied for THIS WEEK alone!!
This time last year it was 27,000.

My mom passed away 12 years ago.
She was a teacher at SRB.
I felt I had to create an honourary award in her name at

for my students.
I was moved to tears today after hearing 2 students received the Gail Wood Award again this year after two long years.

I think all employers should at least be consider offering mental health days for their employees.
The last two years have so been stressful with the pandemic. The trucker protest, Rolling Thunder and now this vicious storm.
It’s a lot of pressure

Before you click and confirm your order on Amazon, Walmart or Costco please take a moment and ask yourself, who might also sell this item locally.

A quick update.
The bank finally offered me a conditional mortgage. It took some pressure but it looks like it will go through.

An Ottawa occupation live-streamer just said on

It is time to end this.

The poor restaurants in Ottawa that don’t have patio or tent tonight are losing another Friday night of revenue 😭.
Maybe you can consider takeout from somewhere to help support these families.
If you call
@OttSpecEvents
and you are rude to the people answering (volunteering) our phones to try and help us out, I will not rent you anything regardless of the fact my business has been closed for 17 months.
Treat people with respect.
If nothing else, Canada needs an uninterruptible way for people to contact 911 and emergency services.
My heartbreaks for those that needed paramedics, fire or police today.
Today marks 13 years that my mom passed away.
Tomorrow is my brother’s celebration of life. It is a difficult time. He was only 45 and had two kids.
I just want to thank all my friends, family and loved ones for their never ending kindness, love and support.
Thank you

In the last 3 months I started getting active again, of course heavily influenced by
@dylanblackradio

I have lost 15 pounds and will continue to do so.
In August, I walked 356,891 steps which works out to about 271.95 KMs.
Thank to everyone who has gotten involved.

Today would have been my brother’s 46th birthday. He passed August 25, 2023.
Please be kind to everyone. We never know what someone is experiencing.
I am fortunate that my family, my friends and my entire support network are second to none.

I am not going to lie, I am pretty proud of the fact that out of the 8 pop-up/walk-up vaccination clinics that
@dylanblackradio
submitted the applications for (that have happened), we have had over 235 people come in and get vaccinated at small/locally owned businesses.

So...I just spoke with someone at

about whether or not I can get waxed in a salon.
Technicallly...we are filming.
It has been suggested that perhaps I consider my front lawn.
As if my neighbours have not been through enough with me already 😂😂

I keep my private life pretty undercover but I feel when recognition is deserved we need to do so.
My brother was declared palliative and combined with everything else life brings, it has been crazy stressful.

If the city of Ottawa is advocating for the closing of ‘non-essential businesses’, the City, the Prov and the Fed gov need to have a plan in place that the businesses are funded at the time of closure.
People have loans tied to personal guarantees.
