I met Picasso's mother, Shon, a couple of times at the General Assembly. Her strength, and the strength of other women whose lives have been forever altered by drunk drivers, was awe-inspiring. They turned their pain into purpose. I was honored to work with them to pass SB 311.
Honoring the legacy of Picasso Keaton, whose memory inspires a safer NC. In the year since his passing, local leaders & advocates have turned heartbreak into hope, championing new ignition interlock legislation to prevent impaired driving.

North Carolinians are safer today than we were yesterday. Great bipartisan victory this morning as @NC_Governor signed SB 311 (the "Law and Order Act") into law. It was an honor to work on provisions of this bill protecting NC drivers and critical supply chain infrastructure.
