Came across this disgusting pile of mess right next to the famous Sao Vincente waterfall in Madeira. There is a little pull in and litter collects. Good job I spotted it to clean up . Lugging the big bag already heavy from the morning litter picking was hilarious after this !

Today I litter picked a bagfull up as we walked the Sao Vincente old road that skirts the edge of the cliffs along the Madeira coast here. Closed long ago due to rockfall its a lovely walk seeing the fantastic coast but far too much litter much of it years old, toilet tissues etc

Litterpicking on Fajã do Cabo Girão bay here in Madeira. Lot of washed in plastic, some litter & tissue on the small trails around here. A wonderful place reached by a 1000ft+ cable car

Today, amongst many places we visited Fajã do Cabo Girão here in Madeira. This beautiful cove with its cable car has a lovely rocky beach facing the Atlantic so a fair bit washed in. Got a bag up here #Madeira

Like litter picking in an 80s Vietnam War film, tiny paths through bamboo and banana trees here at Faja de Quebrada Nova in #Madeira. Sadly got a whole bag of litter toilet tissue bottles cans etc up in this bay lot of it quite old

Very sad to see this pile of collected beach waste on Faja de Quebrada Nova. All washed in from the sea and left here for a collection- BUT this is 1500ft down a cliff assessable by a cable car then a tiny steep path . I took loose plastic left the big bits, I could do no more

Here high on the cliffs of Sao Jorge Madeira, there can be nothing more satisfying in community cleaning than cleaning up beautiful areas! Getting them back to the perfection they should be. #Madeira

Walked high into the clifs round Sao Jorge Bay here in Madeira. We climbed the cliffs along crumbling paths and wooden bridges. Surprisingly a lot of litter - tissue, cigarette packs, bottles. Got a whole bag up in this area.

Collected this quite hefty bag of litter in a 20min litterpick of the Funchal beach and coastal promenade. The bottles cans & discarded waste in the breakwater here was terrible. Barely made a dent #Madeira

Looks lovely looking out over Funchal Harbour Madeira but sadly looking down amongst the Harbour defences it's full of mess. It's about 20ft down need ropes or ladders to get to it. Such a shame

I wish I had a green pan scourer here on my holidays. This kiddy scribble at Ribedo Frio here in Madeira came off with hand gel. But took scrubbing

Lots of polystyrene washed up on Faja Dos Padres beach in Madeira. Collected loads of bits packaging, seafloats, construction all different types. It's very concerning. #marineplastic #beachcleaning

First beach litterpick here in Faja Dos Padres in Madeira. This little rocky cove with banana & mango trees is accessed by a 1000ft cable car. Got half a bag of washed up sea plastics - lot of polystyrene foam, fishing & construction plastic waste. #beachclean #Madeira

Spotted this sticker *slap* in a cable car station toilet here in Funchal Madeira. It's vinyl and breaks up if you try to peel. I had my mini bladed scraper and got it off easily

Seen at Camara De Lobos here in Madeira. Got the slaps off, nothing to get the kiddy scribble off with. I wish to the graffiti cleaning god I had bought some graffiti wipes with me on holiday!

It's not me it's a Madeira council worker. I am loving his hat my new hat, while effective, looks weird, I think.

A issue I find on holiday abroad is stickers or slaps as they are called. They are everywhere. Often graffiti themed or Football Ultras from around Europe. I have my small scraper but limited time on a hike to spend ages on it. Look at the view

Today we visited Camara de Lobos just outside Funchal, Madeira. They have an environmental festival entitled. All we need is Love - And less waste. The village decorations are all recycling #Madeira #CamaraDeLobos

So last night from the balconywe noticed a crowd on the beach as the left they did collect all their beer bottles but left 1 on the wall & left the rest in a bag by the sea wall. I couldn't leave it overnight so went out & collected it up as it had the risk of being spread about
