I've spent 10 months developing the syllabus for our new Stanford CS course: ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐— ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐˜๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐——๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ. The most important question I asked myself about AI software: in an age when the ground is shifting under you all the time, what principles

Soon every software developer will have to become a product manager. In the world of infinite AI-generated software, your code is no longer the most valuable thing you do in a company. It's your ability to reason about product, user, and business requirements and translate them.

A lifelong dream of mine realized! I'm teaching a new computer science course at Stanford this fall: CS 146S The Modern Software Developer. Nearly 15 years after I fell in love with CS during undergrad, I get to go back to my alma mater to teach the next generation of computer.

MCP servers will be the death of enterprise dashboards. Product UIs that confuse me: Linear, Sentry, Datadog. With MCP servers for these services, I can now ask questions in plain English, right from Cursor. No more spending minutes fumbling through line charts or deciphering

State-of-the-art LLMs systems are alarmingly susceptible to simple attack vectors. Using a straightforward pipeline, researchers were able to get computer use agents from Anthropic, MultiOn, etc to:. - Leak private data.- Download viruses.- Send authenticated phishing emails.-

Senior engineers that dismiss coding LLMs aren't learning them correctly. They often download an AI IDE or extension, try a few prompts, and throw their hands up complaining it didn't build the thing flawlessly. However getting the most out of LLMs today requires making

A friend recently told me they avoid interviewing Kaggle Grandmasters for AI roles. I was honestly surprised. Here's why:. โ€ข The candidates were only good at optimizing a predefined metric. Crazy fast at hyperparameter tuning. Not so good at defining the metric from business.

Coding LLMs will make every developer a tech lead. The new SWE 2.0 daily workflow:. - Plan out 2-3 high level tasks. - Break them down into bite-size, self-contained units of work. - Fire off a (Cursor, Claude, Devin, Warp, OpenHands, etc) agent to handle the job. -.

A close friend used coding LLMs to prepare for a system design interview and completely bombed. What happened?. ๐ŸŸฅ The LLM gave over-engineered services. Too many abstractions, too early. ๐ŸŸฅ It suggested heavy duty frameworks when unnecessary (i.e. you don't need Kafka before.

People who call AI a "bubble" aren't reading the stats. In one year:. The number of Americans who tap AI on the job went from one in five to nearly one in two. Daily users doubled. Tech, professional services, and finance lead the adoption charge with up to 50% of an industry
