Read, read, read, read, read. Those who read own the world; those who immerse themselves in the Internet or watch too much television lose it. Our civilization is suffering profound wounds because of the wholesale abandonment of reading by contemporary society. — Werner Herzog

If you believe climate change is a problem, you must be against AI facilities. Full stop. No exceptions. No compromise. Either AI will kill humanity directly, or it will kill humanity indirectly by killing the planet first.

If you believe in the future, stay away from AI. At first you may feel like you've been left behind. Don't worry -- think, read, write, take time to develop your abilities. Be present. When the AI madness passes (yes, it will pass) your skills will be more valuable than ever.

we are being gaslit about AI on a societal level. Everybody is vibe coding but I haven’t seen one useful thing get produced. Everybody has agents doing something but nothing useful is getting done. Cool you had AI summarize a PDF and make a template. Nice

When you come to really understand what Plato means when he says that learning is recollecting, you understand why 'AI', whatever its genuine powers and uses, is disastrous for human cognition.

the AI coding experience nobody talks about: → prompt AI for a feature: 30 seconds → AI writes 400 lines you don't understand → it works → you ship it → 3am production bug → you have no idea what any of it does → ask AI to fix it → AI breaks 3 other things → you are now

🌿 It turns out plants have been talking to each other for roughly 400 million years, and nobody thought to mention it to us. Here is what happens. A caterpillar lands on a leaf and starts eating. The plant, which has no brain, no mouth, and no real options, does the only thing

The human built world is not built for humans. This has been true for some time. AI is apocalyptic in the literal sense. It "reveals" this fundamental truth about the logic of the techno-economic order that structures the modern world.
