The African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights @achpr_cadhp renews the mandate of Commissioner Selma Sassi-Safer (Algeria) as Special Rapporteur on Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Displaced Persons and Migrants in Africa for a period of two years (2), starting on 30 October 2025.

34 States have ratified the Kampala Convention, 10 have signed but not ratified & 11 have neither signed nor ratified. Only 3 States have submitted their initial reports under Article 14(4) & Article 62 of the African Charter - #Cameroon, #Angola and #BurkinaFaso.

It aims to prevent internal displacement, protect IDPs, & to provide for durable solutions to internal displacement in Africa. To achieve these aims, it sets out the rights of IDPs & lays obligations On states, armed groups, non-state actors and other relevant actors.
