I've known this girl since we were 11. Had a crush on her since we reconnected at 20. Now, 27, she has told me within the last few days that she has been IN LoVE with me for years now. Haven't seen her since this came to light but I'm seeing her tonight... wish us luck??

The girl tells her dad she’s not a she/her — she’s a they/them. The dad says he love her — sorry, them — no matter what. A few years later, he pays for their surgery. When he wakes up, he says he wants to go to McDonald’s, and get that boy toy she never got

Y'all: We owe EVERYTHING to all of our wonderful contributors. It’s never easy to select nominees, but we felt the following pieces really highlighted our focus and drive here at CP. We hope you'll congratulate them with us today! (thread)

Worst-case scenario: he attacks. Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā But maybe he watches you gingerly set the pastry down. If he eats the croissant, he does it in one conclusive snarf. There’s a good chance he just eyes...

Orgiva is a beautiful village outside Granada. Lots of expats live there. I like their FB group because of posts like this one:

ā€œā€˜He’s blessing his food,’ my father says as Brendan walks around our kitchen island. He touches things softly, his finger like moonlight settling on the rim of a cup.ā€ Two brilliant shorties.

Ate popcorn and ice cream for lunch today not because I’m an adult who can do whatever she wants, but rather because I’m an adult who is frustrated

Mini-Interview with @neonpajamas "I suppose the divider between prose poetry and microfiction and flash within my writing is less like caution tape and more like a fishing line dropped in a swampy bathtub." https://t.co/lKlonfZBcz

Why do you write flash? What makes it different for you? I write flash once the poem begins to grow arms and legs. Almost all of my first drafts are done in lined stanzas, and if I feel like there’…

"What you remember about that night. Spooning soup into his mouth. The heat of his forehead under your hand as you smoothed back his hair. The tenderness of your lovemaking, despite his betrayal. How dim the room was." Damn, @doylejacq in @Little_Fiction: https://t.co/Itj7m2E4Xw

I'm really honored to have this (very) short story in @cutbankonline—and I'd be even more honored to have you read it.

So thankful to @Little_Fiction for taking a chance on one of my most tender little things — about my father & functional heart murmurs & forbidden love — & by far my most revised piece:

Sometimes I forget I'm one person, and I put the kettle on, take out the trash, hang out the washing, feed the dog, and when I sit on the couch I'm genuinely surprised my tea isn't there

My CNF piece about my postpartum struggles is up at @Little_Fiction! This was extremely difficult to write, and it’s even harder to share, but I think it’s important to talk about what can happen after birth:
