It still suprises me when people say "you can get a PhD in nursing?" My response - absolutely like other PhDs #PhD #Nurses generate much needed knowledge. My thought - nurse scientists I know are among the top intellectuals I know in breath and depth. You should meet them!.

Snowy early morning, fire, finishing a great book. Deep exhale. Let’s make time to rest today, friends. Life is a lot.

So here is to making it beautifully unforgettable with eyes and hearts wide open anticipating and savoring without labeling events “good” or “bad”. Because these events are a bigger part of our story and our impact and are always more than initially meets the eye. 6/7.

I have let myself linger longer, laugh louder, and be silly. We have needed it. And man am I excited for all that is ahead in 2025!!! It will no doubt include highes and lows and lots of hard things like every year does. 5/7.

The lesson of how much we need community with others to share both our joy and sorrow with has also been on full display. So this Christmas, I left the lights up a little longer. I have been largely offline and take more time to reflect and recharge. 4/7.

And there was still suffering. I witnessed deep unspeakable suffering and grieved what has been lost or changed this year. I hope you have also had people bear witness and walk (and crawl if required) through those hard places with you. 3/7.

I have seen my children thrive and I cherish the many memories made with them and others I love. As I often say, we can be thriving but still feel like things look and feel messy — I saw this lesson on repeat in 2024. 2/7.

Our kids are watching and listening, and so are our families, our friends, our not yet friends and strangers. Our words matter. Our actions matter. Our thoughts matter. The only thing we can control is our own thoughts, words, and actions. ♥️ 11/11.

And may we remember that each of us are leaders, in how we support the democratic process, how we talk about real people who have real families, and carry the weight of responsibilities we may never know. 10/11.

I hope if you have the opportunity to vote, that you have or will in these final hours. Vote for those you think have shown they can be trusted. 8/11.

In my health policy and research roles, I know more than ever the importance of having leaders elected and nominated that are innovative and trustworthy. I also know the long lasting impact of bad decisions and bad policies that have unintended policies. 7/11.

But they grow steadily, and a glimpse of them thriving can stop me in my tracks, and the growth is worth the wait. They know what to do and I want to do all I can to protect them and give them the environment they need to thrive. 6/11.

And the other more desired growth here on my land, the Japanese maple, the ginkgo tree, the bleeding heart, the crepe myrtles, the azaleas all seem to grow so much slower. 5/11.

It is amazing how fast briars grow. They grow really fast when I’m not paying attention but when I see them for what they are I can’t unsee them. 4/11.
