Another important reason why I love Harwin- the connections you make with students throughout the school. Here’s a photo of an inside joke between a kindergarten teacher and a grade 7 student. They hide my counting bears all around my classroom. Today was a little different. 🧸

Almost a year to the day, I went to Barkerville with my @EducationUnbc cohort and thought about the day I would take my own class. Today was the day! 😊 I love my Harwin kiddos and team so much.

On Friday I was offered a teaching position at Harwin Elementary. I cannot wait to work with the amazing educators and staff at this incredible school. To say I’m excited is an understatement. 🥹

Last week I asked my kiddos for some advice as I start my journey as a new teacher. Can’t believe today was my last day and I’m officially a teacher. Thanks @EducationUnbc! I’ll be back I’m sure haha.

Mussi cho to everyone who contributed to this amazing day of learning on the land. Teachers, parent volunteers, teacher candidates, UNBC faculty, researchers, and Elders, you all made this day incredible. Students learned how to build a fire, track, and drum. Oh yea, the caribou!

My students collaborated to make a classroom worry monster. His name is Fred. Students write their worries and Fred eats them. 🤓

On Wednesday my students connected with their big buddy class and we headed out to Moores Meadow to look for signs of animals using our senses. This wonderful group will be heading out to meet the Kennedy Siding Caribou Herd on November 18th!!!!

My nephew has made this final practicum so memorable. We film twice weekly for one of my ELA units (journal writing). He intros a topic and models the criteria. For art tomorrow, my students will make lanterns for Diwali, which Arthur and I made today. 🪔 @EducationUnbc @SD57PG

My nephew (who is also in grade 2) is a big part of my ELA unit. Had to share one of our bloopers for Would You Rather Wednesday. Thanks @MsEmReid for the idea! 💗

Had some amazing conversations this week about truth and reconciliation with my grade 2s and my nephew Arthur. Took him out to have some fun learning on the land.

I was going through some photos to add to my e-portfolio and came across this picture that my little cousin created a couple of years back—one of my favourite works of art. Kids are so cool.

Help preserve PG’s greenspace and save Ginters dog park from being cleared and developed. Every morning I walk here and wave to my favourite tree. Would be sad to see this place go. https://t.co/UsG5arneIB

Some exciting learning opportunities I was lucky enough to take part in. We released the salmon fry (third picture) last Monday and we will release the butterflies this Friday.
