Fundraiser by Michael Murphy : Let's help Oscar get his tools back!

I just learned that chef, Michael Chiarello died last night from an acute allergic reaction that led to anaphylactic shock. He was a California pioneer in many things and his restaurants: Bottega and Coqueta continue to celebrate his legacy.

I return to Eliza's at least a couple of times a month for the Peking duck (offered Friday-Sunday), shrimp with lotus root, and many other dishes. @ Eliza Restaurant

The sandwiches and salads, topped with chicken, lamb or pork are always great at Souvla, but the Dogpatch location has an expanded menu that includes a trio of spreads, lamb meatballs, octopus, and beet salad.

The perfect antidote to a rainy day: the chicken pho ( and a couple of starters) at the Slanted Door in San Ramon.

A16 is one of my favorite restaurants at the holidays with lights and decorations everywhere! And the food is as alluring particularly the pizza, wood-roasted chicken, and desserts. @ A16

Always looking for a new place for lunch, and Rosemary and Pine is now on the list. Excellent smoked salmon pizza, salad with chicken, and gnocchi. It's a great addition to the design district.

Okane is one of the best places for pristine, moderately-priced sushi. @ Okane

Estela is on our must-visit list whenever we go to New York. Ignacio Mattos creates an ever changing menu that includes trout, pork, beef tartare and kohlrabi salad. @ Estela

The Commerce Inn features farmhouse cooking by Rita Sodi and Jody Williams. They have the confidence to serve tongue with cabbage and more familiar items like lettuce glazed with buttermilk dressing and sautéed fluke.

Fortunately the new Barbuto in New York (opened 1 year ago today) features the same vibrant vibe as the original. The classics: kale salad, wood fired roast chicken and bucatini carbonara are as good as ever! @ BARBUTO
