Used my entire Claude pro usage limit trying to get Claude to debug a memory issue in a small rust program (<20k LoC). It couldn’t figure it out. Only after it hit usage limit did I investigate the code myself and find the issue immediately. Probably should’ve just started with

After reflection I have come to realise this is basically true for *any* city on Earth. The thought of living in a city again is horrifying. I would maybe spend 12 months in a handful of cities (Tokyo and Singapore maybe) for maybe $10M so long as at least 50% was paid up front

Google are not serious about the consumer market for Gemini. How are the only two options a free tier and a $400/mo tier? Nothing inbetween? The free tier rate limits are unusable and im not forking out $400 a month for it

Some version of this is my life dream. Unfortunately we need a way to make the byproduct of desalination a useful input to other things. Theoretically we can extract valuable resources out of the high concentrate brine but not economically. We’ll also likely need methods for

If current rate of improvement for coding models continues, I only have maybe 10-12 more years left before most of my job is automated

If all you know about shooting is from movies this doesn't seem that impressive. 40m with a lot of potential collateral damage from stray shots is very impressive. High pressure scenario, chance of return fire, moving targets etc.

Give that man a beer. The policeman who shot the Bondi Beach terrorists has been identified as local detective Cesar Barraza. Firing from about 40 metres away he killed Sajid, 50, and wounded Naveed, 24. Good drills Detective.

It took me a single afternoon to write a custom DSL and do program synthesis for ARC-AGI 1 that gets 5% in 6s just running on CPU (just on train set). Easy to see how people get one shot by this.

Some autistic people like trains. Me? I like projectile motion. Take away my ability to do long range target shooting and I’m afraid I’ll end up on NDIS needing government funded trebuchets or something.

This is about the 100th time i've complained about this but EVERY single model does this ALL THE TIME and it is insane to me. How can we be seriously discussing AGI and displacing the workforce when these models are so obviously broken in an uncountably large number of ways

We have bipartisan support for high levels of third world immigration in this country. The narrative shift to gun control is the perfect scapegoat and won’t see any pushback in parliament or the media.

So now the Bondi terror attack is being spun as a gun issue. Let’s be clear, I am grateful for gun control in this country. But we need to get serious about values control as well. After the Christchurch massacre the focus was on values first and guns as the enabler. We

Probabilistic slop engines cannot do science, drug discovery, materials discovery, or magic. Anyone who thinks AI can autonomously do science simply doesn’t understand how knowledge is created.

Everyone's fighting for the same Next/Node/React jobs. Meanwhile HFT & Systems roles in C++/Rust are literally begging for engineers. Low level skills comes with less competition + good pay + hectic work culture If you want to stand out, go where others are scared to go.

I run a military surplus store in Victoria. A group of 12-15 year olds came in and cleaned out my entire supply of Rhodesian Brushstroke camo. They said they were going to "solve the machete problem". This is what happens when you take away their social media.
