Knowing the language and knowing how to translate are entirely different skillsets. You can be native bilingual in two or three different languages but you don't automatically become a good translator.
Once you actually speak Japanese you realize most translations are actually alright, you just nitpick because you don’t know enough nuance and translate every words literally
