Design tastemaking can better describe how designers consider people. Good designers are tastemakers who rely on intuition and have the ability to get people to desire their proposed artifacts.

Design empathy based on gathering insights is rarely how good designers work. While I wish good designers were empathetic and worked to deeply understand people and their needs, it has never been a primary design approach.

AI-bot teachers only make sense if there are AI-bot students who pay tuition.

Human-centered ≠ benefits for all humans.

Then, designers must consider the future consequences of their work—a significant challenge in contemporary design that receives very little attention.

We design products that solve problems. Products typically generate other problems. Some new problems are systemic and can’t be solved with more products.

Traditional designers align, arrange, and balance #form. Strategic designers align, arrange, and balance #power.

We need to transition from designing artifacts to helping people enact artifacts in different ways. #DesignAfterDesign.

We should focus again on learning meaningfully not on learning rapidly.

If you design for emergent consequences, there are no unintended consequences.
