Today, as part of Pride Week Celebrations, we officially opened our Rainbow Sidewalk at Handsworth with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Thank you to all the students, staff and community supporters who helped make today happen! #pride

Starting the @HandsworthHSS #Pride2023 Week off with an amazing bang! Our Pride Club and SJ12 students have a whole week of activities planned to highlight and celebrate diversity and inclusion at Handsworth. 🌈☀️🌈

Handsworth has “gone to the dogs!” This morning our grade 12s brought their 4-legged family members as a grad ‘prank’. Great energy in the halls this morning! All the dogs will be heading home after first period.

Day 4 of 5 at the @BCPVPA Foundations for Leaders course at UBC with my @NVSD44 VP pals. Really enjoying the learning and growing, the acknowledgment of our place and space on this unceded land, and the opportunity for deeper connections with friends and colleagues!

We started out dry - and then it rained…and then it poured. But @SutherlandSec students and staff were still happy to run for the @TerryFoxCanada cause. Way to go Sutherland! The sun seems to be peeking out now.

Today @SutherlandSec is wearing orange to acknowledge the harmful legacy of residential schools. We honour the victims, survivors, families, and all affected. Our Chenchenstway Wall holds messages to affirm our commitment to reconciliation and to pledge that #EveryChildMatters

As we approach Truth & Reconciliation week, I want to do my part: to reflect on my own privilege, to honour Indigenous People who have and continue to be affected by government policies, to remember those who never came home, and commit to action in all the ways that I can.

We could not have had a better day to be outdoors! @CheakamusCentre was the perfect place to connect, learn, grow and reflect as educators at @SutherlandSec. Thank you @bradleyrbaker for grounding us in thought to start our day and to @conorjmcmullan for hosting a perfect Pro-D.
