With affirmative action struck down, how could college admissions be transformed? We asked 7 experts to share what they think should come next. They’ve already changed how I think about the whole ecosystem. I hope they do the same for you.

Could you capture America in a song? A book? A movie? We asked @nytopinion columnists for their picks. Read on for @maureendowd on "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," @tressiemcphd on "Ted Lasso," @nytdavidbrooks on Blind Willie Johnson, and so much more. https://t.co/kUMjGzl3wL

Generation Connie hits the front page of @nytopinion just in time for Mother’s Day! As @APQW said while we were debating the zillionth tweak to the story and design, we may have gotten overly emotionally invested in this beautiful tale by @conniewang. Glad to see we’re not alone.

When @conniewang set out to tell the story of her name she found the story of a generation. (And also, Connie Chung!)

Our gift from @nytopinion to you this Valentine’s Day: a slightly absurd valentine generator that tests the limits of ChatGPT. (It couldn’t be funny when we asked it to, but unintentionally? Hilarious.) https://t.co/RS3yunLq3i

I'm back on twitter to say: we made a thing at @nytopinion about twitter. Enjoy! Debate! Or just watch the bird. (Should I be sharing this on Instagram instead?)

When we started this @nytopinion project and asked people to share their last messages from loved ones who died of Covid I thought we’d get poignant goodbyes, texts and videos from people who knew the end was near. What we ended up with was very different.

I’m on parental leave so I can’t take credit for how this @nytopinion project turned out, but I can also say — just as a reader — it’s exactly the gut punch this moment deserves.

In 2017, Swedish journalist @cissiwallin posted the name of the man she says raped her on her Instagram. Today, she's a convicted criminal, facing jail time. What happened to #MeToo in Sweden? asks @nordbergj.

Exactly what I needed to read right now as I (we?) think about how to jumpstart out of languishing and into something… better.

As with just about everything related to Covid, we’re sick of languishing, too.

“Even as we’ve grieved, we’ve grown; even fatigued we’ve found that this hill we climb is one we must mount together. We are battered, but bolder; worn, but wiser.” — @TheAmandaGorman revisits her poem and that day on the stage, one year later.

This, by @VanessaVeselka, a brilliant novelist who’s also a union organizer, is the best thing I will read today. The best thing I have read in a while. It offers the kind of hope—brutally realistic & yet startling—that doesn’t feel delusional these days.

The antiheroine of the moment, in movies like “The Lost Daughter” and novels like “I Love You but I’ve Chosen Darkness,” commits the mother’s ultimate sin: abandoning her children.

Split-screen: ⁦@nytopinion⁩ put the same set of questions about democracy, Jan. 6, Trump & Biden to separate focus groups of Republicans and Democrats for a snapshot of how they see America & to dig beyond poll numbers. There were some surprises.

The Republicans aren’t apologists for Jan. 6 — some chastised President Trump and don’t want him to run again. They just want the country to move on.
