Mountain of stuff that needs some love, but due to a physical disability I cannot do it, so I'm looking for help in the EU. Among other stuff, 3 ATI FireGL X1 256 (=Radeon 9700 Pro), 2 Geforce 6800 GT AGP, Geforce FX 5700 Ultra, 4800 SE, GUS PnP clone.

At this point I would look into @denalifox if I was her insurance company, nobody gets robbed this often. #rupaulsdragraceallstars.

It is also visible in your video that the FF7 config tool where the card failed the 8bpt test was set to software rendering, which is also because of the driver. A much earlier version, like 71.XX, will do the trick. I haven't tried at what point compatibility breaks.

8 bit paletted textures didn't work. I can tell you how to do the hardware mod (just moving half a hand ful resistors) and provide a Geforce PCX 5900 BIOS that works on the Quadro FX 1300 if you are interested in revisiting it!.But even as a Quadro, the 8BP textures would work!.

I have this cool Pentium 4 3 GHz (desktop version!), Radeon 9700 mobile laptop, and I want to open it, clean it, repaste the heatsinks and possibly downgrade the CPU to something less power hungry, but I fail to find how to open it without breaking the shell, any hints?

Oh, also a Quadro FX that needs two resistors moved for a total conversion to a Geforce PCX 5950. I've got the complete tutorial and compatible BIOS for that. Not even in the picture: industrial desktop motherboard with socket 479 that needs recapping.

Bonus: I went to the repair cafe that is open once a month for 4 hours to get an mSATA connector soldered onto this board. Graciously accepted my donation then clumsily soldered the 2 Fan points there but none of the pins, obviously does not work.

I mean somewhere on the harddisk, there must be some sort of instruction to open an Explorer window right after booting, and I have to find and remove this instruction for the system to work again.

My Windows 98 is stuck in a boot "loop"where it hangs until it freezes once Windows 98 is done loading and attempting to open an Explorer window showing me the files from a USB drive. Removing the drive has not helped, Safe Mode works but when I boot normal it hangs again. HALP.

Looking for a thin client to replace my dead Neoware CA2 (ideally, another Neoware CA2, or anything really where I can plug in an ISA card). If you see one or know somebody who is selling, I'd be most grateful to be pointed that way.

I lack the skills and tools to attempt a repair, and the board (or thin client) isn't available any more. I would have screamed and thrown stuff if it weren't for the baby sleeping in the next room. Don't know anyone who could help either. RIP.

The first thing I did was remove the PISA riser and sound card, but doesn't change anything. Fans spin up when I power it on, but the power LED stays off and the display only shows black, but doesn't go in sleep mode any more when I power off the machine, like it was still on.

I'm completely devasted, the Neoware CA2 is hard to get, and I had modified this one so much, it was perfect for me. It wasn't even that I thought I don't need to unplug the power chord, I just kinda thought I had done that. But alas I had not, and the magic smoke escaped.

I just killed my Neoware CA2 on a mobo level. AWECPL was working, so I added the 8MB expansion to my AWE64 CT4520, but had put it on slightly off, leading to pic related. Took it out to correct this, but forgot to unplug the power cord and when putting it back in, poof. No POST.

Why are these things always at the other end of Germany, with a seller adamant not to ship?.It would've been the perfect sound card for my thin client, and then I could exchange the PCI sound card for a better graphics card.

I basically have to make a batch file try all possible combinations of "SETMUL [number from 3 to 10.5] [l1d/l1e] [l2d/l2e] [icd/ice] [bpd/bpe]", then a benchmark, and adding the parameters and resulting score to a text file. I could totally do that in bash, but DOS .bat? Oof.

With multipliers from 3 to 10.5 (x133) in .5 increments and L1 cache, L2 cache, instruction cache and branch prediction to toggle on or off, there are exactly 16*(2e4) = 256 possible speed settings the VIA C3 Nehemiah can run at, but how do I automate benchmarking each one?
