Presenting my curated list of 10 essential books every Malawian should read. These works should be compulsory in secondary education to combat ignorance and foster intellectual growth. Ensuring our youth are well-read is crucial for a knowledgeable and humble nation. 📚 #Malawi

Democracy means promises must meet reality. In 2020, @LAZARUSCHAKWERA pledged fertilizer at K4,950. Today, a 50kg bag costs ~K170,000. Before asking for another term, he owes #Malawians an explanation: Why did this promise fail? Why is fertilizer still out of reach for farmers?

After decades of singing it in our anthem, it seems God (or whoever runs the help desk upstairs) has listened. #Malawi is on the brink of a mining windfall. The question however, is: will this blessing become bread for the poor, or just another feast for the glutinous powerful?

If President @LAZARUSCHAKWERA had done the bare minimum—fought corruption, ensured food security, tackled cronyism & delivered on promises—he wouldn’t be worried about wadya mtolilo today. But his failure is so glaring, it’s brought back an 85-year-old retiree from the grave

#Malawi is changing—and not always for the better. So today I wrote a guide to the silent decay creeping through our economy, public service, and everyday life. Ten steps and a few darkly humorous asides—just in time for the September 16 elections.

President @LAZARUSCHAKWERA and MCP ‘supports debates’—but only if nobody asks tough questions & voters never actually get to see what he stands for. MCP calls this 'inclusivity,' but in reality it’s a masterclass in avoiding accountability while pretending to embrace democracy

If @LAZARUSCHAKWERA and @APMutharika can’t face a Presidential Debate, how will they face the #Malawi’s problems? A job without a job interview? That’s how we ended up with Chakwera—zero scrutiny, maximum regret. In future, debates must be mandatory: no debate, no ballot

This boy Vitumbiko Mumba, the minister of Trade and Industry and President @LAZARUSCHAKWERA's running mate, should watch his temper. It might turn up to be his downfall.

The @MalawiGovt says #Malawi has roughly 54,000 boreholes, but 70% were built by NGOs. And now @MrBeast had to fly in to drill one for us. Sixty-one years of independence, and it takes a YouTuber to show us how to provide clean water. via @LinkedIn.

More than half of the population of the impoverished central African country is under 35 and the turnout on September 16 of young voters –- who made up 54 percent of registered voters in the 2019 election -- is seen as a potential game-changer.

As a country and as a people, we can’t fix what we refuse to face. Poverty isn’t just statistics — it’s our reality. It’s time for an honest, no-excuses, no blame national conversation. The question we must have the courage to ask is simple: Why are we poor?

This billion-kwacha breakdown skips the real math: how much of it actually lands in the players’ pockets? At the end of the day, they’re the ones kicking the ball. I say this both as a parent with a son in the league & as someone who wants our footballers paid what they deserve.
