Yes, he knew which of 3/8 and 3/6 did not = 1/2. He explained that 3 x 2 = 6 and the 3 in the 3/8 would have to be 4 if it = 1/2.

He knows a lot and is thoughtful but is always a bit unusual in his explanations. In November when I asked him to solve 100 divided by 3, he came up with 30 r 10. I love interviewing.
@mburnsmath This is 100% a “tell me more about that,”’moment. Seems to be an instinctive understanding of proportional relationships and equality. I want to know more of what this student knows he knows.

A "non zero" chance for ice on the road? I've never seen that description. #mtbos.
Temperatures are slowly warming southwest to northeast with light showers occurring. There is a non-zero chance for a thin glaze of ice along portions of Highway 11 in northern New York overnight. Monday morning commuters should exercise caution.
