There are smart Republicans in Minnesota - staffers, activists, and elected officials. The biggest obstacle preventing them from succeeding is a small group of
#MNGOP
legislators who use their platforms recklessly, tainting all Republicans with their horrible statements.
@mbrodkorb
Where are those smart voices on clean energy/global warming? Where are they in public safety reform? Both those issues could stand smart Republicans but we get the same old head in the sand arguments.
@mbrodkorb
Why is the broader MNGOP not speaking out if they see it as a problem? And why are national figures like
@GOPMajorityWhip
not either? Is it because they need the โsmall groupโ to help secure their position? Do they not realize theyโre alienating moderate voters?
@mbrodkorb
I can't seem to find the
@mngop
statement refuting these horrible statements. When you tell us you don't believe in hungry Minnesotans, we believe you. When your party leader calls for riots in the streets, we believe you. When you show us who you are, we believe you.
@mbrodkorb
Iโve lived here as an adult for the past 14 years, Michael, and save for David Fitzsimmons, Iโve yet to meet oneโฆ The party has gone off the deep end of white grievance & conspiracy theories. Gevalt.
@mbrodkorb
Hmm, I've seen some quite smart and responsible
#mngop
legislators get punished by their constituents and some who were reckless and horrible and got rewarded for it. In a safe district, there's nobody to blame for the legislator other than intra party constituents.
@mbrodkorb
There are also national Republicans who have tainted the party and the few Republicans who disapprove keep quiet therefore the entire party is in a bad place and our country is harmed because of it.
@mbrodkorb
This thread has given you good intel into how lost is the gop, use it to take over the mngop; then divorce from the national gop until they purge their twisted ideologues.
Last gop I voted for was Arne Carlson because no one else has been a true conservative--so lost is the gop.
@mbrodkorb
Weak legislators catering to rogue activists in their BPOUs is the biggest problem. We need to remove endorsement process and shift to early partisan primaries. Too few have too big an impact that cost us seats and put up unelectable statewide candidates. But you know this.
