I've been saying "about 500." Regardless of the figure, Max & I are aligned here. Fewer, stronger validators are totally OK with me.
Right now, there's ~200-300 great validators on Solana out of ~900. Being a validator should be ultra competitive and a privilege earned by the market. Solana is no more or less valuable whether it has 300 (unique) validators or 900 validators. Less validators who care more
