New essay! What the heck is "quality", anyway? And how can we intentionally and meaningfully create it in our work? https://t.co/sWmnMB48zf

I've been using the https://t.co/CByqzF2Uhq plugin a ton lately; it's remarkably (though not 100%) accurate, and so so much better than designing over screenshots. Excited that Figma bought the tech, I hope they continue to improve and provide it to users.

Now that @figma supports design token import/export via the UI, it'd be a _very_ good time to provide that through the API (for everyone, not just enterprise users 🫠) to enable design systems to stay in sync programmatically.

gamification? in my dev tools? it's more likely than you think.

I set up Notion Mail once, and I think it created this rule in the background, which seems pretty sneaky. I just noticed it when doing some cleanup.

To settle a bet: I believe the Google logo on https://t.co/u162zrLWYk is too big.

grumpy font take: tabular numerals (tnum) should only apply to numerals, not to punctuation. Otherwise numbers read like 1 , 234 . 567 — and besides, if you're stacking numbers (like in a table!) with mixed precision, you should be punished.

very true; designers are undervalued as vital contributors to business strategy, in that they are often facilitating deep conversations about the product between people who'd rather run an a/b test than just talk through their disagreements in a more productive manner.

another vibe coding observation: agents/models are loathe to delete code. even when asking them to simplify or improve legibility/maintainability, they tend to only add documentation, split and abstract functions into helpers and separate files, etc.

Your real product lives in the browser. Introducing MagicPath web capture: Import any functional web element into a canvas, edit it visually or with AI, and even request changes right as you capture. You can now finally build with your real product. Capture. Edit. Ship.

vibe coding observation: if a model fails to fix the an error after two consecutive prompts, it fails to fix the error even after more 'think hard' follow-ups with logging and add'l context. But switch to a different model, and the error usually gets resolved in one shot.

Stoked that Figma is shipping native design tokens import/export using the DTCG format! One more step in standardizing design tokens across tools. Figma's announcement: https://t.co/o7hw3rJxMz And check out the latest version of the spec here: https://t.co/6T0ix76sVJ

Just re-read @mattstromawn's: https://t.co/8vWh9rZZDj - #DesignSystems are moving from static “dictionaries” to dynamic “functions” - Dynamic logic enables adaptive, personalized, and accessible UIs - Tools like CSS clamp() and Material’s dynamic color make this future possible

Thought-provoking: https://t.co/UOZfKDSNHn The real renaissance is how low the barrier to entry has become — non-designers can make things "good enough" with AI. Let's be more expansive. If we narrow "real design" to "what AI can't do yet," we'll be frogs in boiling water.

@mattstromawn Happy to give Scripter repo access to a willing maintainer!

pretty remarkable that if Figma is missing functionality I can just vibe code a local plugin in 10mins to get work done. Shame that @rsms's scripter plugin hasn't been updated in years; that + coding agent would be extremely high leverage.

dumb marketplace idea: contribute your domain expertise to an ai eval in exchange for a stake in the revenue to be generated by selling access to the eval. spotify for evals?
