And I do think the threshold is better served with the linear function anyway, since it’s a less gameable threshold then.

Arf, I meant 1% of the cube root of the total, not the reverse. Anyway, I hope you got what I meant.

One could argue that the inflection point could be determined dynamically, for example at the third quartile of the wallet size distribution. Anyway, back to the beginning, thanks for sharing your thoughts and (soon) these spreadsheets.

If the inflection point is higher, something like 10K ada for example, where the curve is linear up to 10K, then quadratic (1/2), then there is even less impact for the sybil behavior.

Much simpler mitigation is changing the power curve. Instead of a cube root, do a square root. It already has an affect. Another possibility as using a piecewise continuous function where it starts linear then changes to a square root. ( https://t.co/UuCcVql79R)

The obvious one is having an identity attached to voters. Though this brings a ton more complexity, because either you need kyc, or you need some form of reputation based system, and a way to seeding it. I’m sure there is research on the subject.

It would not solve the sybil gaming of this system where people would create tons of wallets with the minimum amount to participate in catalyst, but there are a few things that could help.

Yet within "valid" proposals (over linear threshold) the sorting is done thanks to QV, so more power to the people.

Means both raw Ada amount and QV have an impact on the final results. Best of both because you can’t have fishy proposals pass the raw linear threshold because they would need to convince big ada holders too.

Or you could simply keep a linear threshold requirement (whether it’s 1% or 0.5% or something else) AND do the sorting with QV voting power. In that situation, as long as there more entries satisfying the threshold than available funds, the QV order will matter.

You could compare it to the cube root of the 1% amount of registered stake, which would make sense, and would be even a lower threshold than 1% of the linear stake since the cube root function is concave ( https://t.co/1WwExM2DFd)

Registered stake do get stale, especially because wallets are still considered registered in subsequent rounds. Comparing 1% of stake with a cube root of stake makes no sense, since it’s not the same unit.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Sharing these spreadsheets would be very appreciated. I’ll be interested in looking at these ranking and see how they compare for example with the selection my team did for the drep pilots https://t.co/Zh8nPTlcjL Now few thoughts about QV:

Hi @krissbaird and @dannyribar. I remember @Catalyst_onX was supposed to publish the rankings from F14 in both the linear and QV weights. Was the QV rankings published anywhere? Feels like super important to have this feedback before going into F15.
