Software, Craftsmanship & Innovation ▪️ Building Delightful Agentic Software for Product Teams (soon)
Australia
Joined July 2025
Having done product and software engineering, I can absolutely affirm that product is much harder. Software is much easier to know when something is right. In product, it's much harder. You can do anything. It's so wicked. And you won't know if something is good enough.

Starting to think @sama said this cause he knew it was going to explode and he’s now collecting feedback
Sam Altman says Slack has many positives, but it creates endless fake work We need an AI-native productivity suite to replace docs, slides, email, and Slack Not add-on features, but trusted agents that handle work and only escalate when needed This finally feels within reach

“We’re customer‑obsessed” Said the founder. Right after adding the 3 latest investor feature requests to the startup roadmap.

Be right back. I just need to do one last round of UI feedback so that my product manager who was a consultant decides won what the best design is.

Designers in their Figma design system: “We have 48 variants to this button and this is when to use each of them”. Production app: “Cool let’s use the sane button everywhere”. People love overcomplicating.

“Moving fast” could be replaced with a more defined “decide fast, learn faster.” Maybe more startups would understand what it really means to move fast.

I came through a breakthrough idea today. What if startups made their product better by talking to their customers instead of assuming they know what they’re doing? Has anyone ever tried this?

I know founders who thought it was cool to scale the architecture before solving the problem. Now, the architecture is the problem.

I don't know if I'm part of an experiment in @YouTube , but I'm not getting the picture-in-picture feature anymore. Bring it back pls

The fastest way to ship junk (read if you want to build bad products): - Collect feedback everywhere - Store it nowhere - Summarize it never - Prioritize it anyway Congrats, we're moving fast and going nowhere

everyone will now drop everything just to build a competitor to Slack. We'll see what will come from it. FYI I don't see Slack creating fake work. Meetings create fake work.

6 months ago: No one knew what Liquid Glass was or gave a shit. Design is great as it is. Today: “Man I love Liquid Glass. It’s amazing. The future.” Pfff - please

Engagement and time spent in app will become irrelevant metrics.
SaaS + AI Agents are the best combination for the future of software. You need deterministic systems for handling workflows, security, governance, data management, and providing consistent end-user interfaces that users interact with. But Agents will be doing most of the work

The founder paradox: “We’re customer-obsessed and ship what customers want”. Then ships 7 features no one asked for. Then sends a 1000-word email to angel investors claiming “Our numbers just keep getting better”.

Joke of the day: “We’re agile” said the corporate, bureaucratic PM, right before finishing his 39-slide deck m.
