@sharon000 This is easier on Debian and Ubuntu thanks to @eddelbuettel and @marutterstat. Their PPAs make pkg updates a lot faster. This won't help if your pain is due to breaking changes in the pkgs though. You have to make careful dependency choices to avoid that pain.
