Great coaching isn't stockpiling great players... and then playing inferior opponents. Great coaching is about finishing the season (as individuals & as a team) ahead of where you started across specific development criteria. Let's be honest with ourselves.

Thanks Linda :) I made a lot of mistakes but I learnt a ton and created some pretty special memories. You always gave us an open and rich environment to lead!

What separates international players from domestic players? 1. Scenarios based practice ✅ 2. Negative developmental experiences ✅ 3. Dynamic learning environments🏄‍♂️ 4. Early Diversification⚽️🏀🎾⚾️ https://t.co/A71QkMyK3C

Parents: Most important thing is car ride home. Winning is a real thing. Losing is too. So is celebrating success and realizing areas for improvement. But most important is showing love regardless and reminding your kid their performance IS transient and is NOT their identity.

@adegiorgioPE @coachnateb @GlennYoung_PE There is no doubt that we have not been developing independent learners. I deal with that problem every day in working with Ts who simply refuse to own their own learning. Love this graphic from both the student and teacher perspective. Interested in ways to change this.

Athletes; let me ask you this: When your ‘A game’ isn’t there, how good is your ‘B game?’ More importantly, how is your attitude & mindset when you only have your ‘B game?’ Do you still bring the same focus, commitment and intensity, or do you spend that time making excuses?

Insecure leaders ridicule others. Secure leaders laugh at themselves. Great leaders take their work seriously, but don't take themselves too seriously. The ability to make fun of yourself is a mark of humility and a catalyst for learning from mistakes. #FridayFeeling

TRAIN = intentional building of the athlete you want to be in the future. PLAY = creating space to explore and affirm the athlete you are right now. Ensure you have a healthy balance of both, fun free play is just as essential as structured training.

We’ve spent the last few weeks reminding coaches they can and should be including Character and Culture in their plans this coming season. It does not take much time to start building excellent people alongside the skills you teach. https://t.co/6nIuSDBaQN

I wish some parents could see that cultivating mental toughness in kids gives them a huge advantage in life. Every time they stick it out when times get tough, they improve their odds of success in life.

One of the biggest thieves of joy is comparing yourself to others. Comparison is a NO WIN game. Your journey is unique, no one will ever travel in your shoes. The only person you should be comparing yourself to, is the person you were yesterday. Are you better? #ChampionMinded🏆
