Some kind soul compiled the car-crash local radio interviews with the PM today and I listened to all of them. It is truly amazing what can be achieved by journalists who don’t get regularly invited to No 10 for dinner. I sincerely doubt you’ll get the chance but please keep it up.

Fine I said, at your new monthly rate my account is over 3 months in credit, so even at £72 pm you have been overcharging me. Three days later they came back to me. They will now charge me just £74 pm. Should I reinstate the DD or just pay for what I use and not a penny more?.

My energy supplier Ovo wrote to say our electricity bill was going from £72 per month to £152. I immediately requested a smart meter and cancelled my direct debit. Ovo contacted me within 24 hours saying that paying without DD would make things more expensive for me.

I’ve known for months that Euan intended to retire from Out of Doors, but that didn’t make this morning any easier. The past umpteen years have been an absolute blast, the best of my professional career. I know I won’t be the only one to miss him. It’s been a privilege, lad.

Can we please stop with this crap about “off-setting” energy hikes? Don’t offset them - cap them. Cap them at the 40% increased rate the rest of Europe are paying. Not the 240% increase which us dopes are being asked to pay. This is flagrant profiteering. It should be illegal.

I feel really privileged to have been part of Thunder in the Glens this year. Over 2,000 participants. A lovely bunch of folk enjoying a trail through some spectacular parts of Scotland. An absolute blast. The crowds in Aviemore and Grantown on Spey speak for themselves.

It was bad enough when we had a government of out-of-touch multi-millionaires, scroungers and crooks. Now with millions of people facing fuel poverty and very real hardship it would appear we no longer have sort of government at all. This is beyond a disgrace. We deserve better.

What a lovely bunch of dafties the Out of Doors audience is. After worrying that we wouldn’t get an audience at 0630 - over two hundred people turned up to see the show live from the BBC Spiegeltent. An absolute pleasure and very humbling. Thank you
